Hiring a Student Doula
Throughout the Birth Yurt Doula course, student Doulas are required to be mentored through the practical application of Doula Skills.
All students are required to participate through two levels of the program - the Mentored Doula Service and the Student Doula Service.

Mentored Doula Service
A Doula Student is co-supported by a professional Doula (Mentor) to work with a couple through the full Doula service. The Doula student takes primary lead for the service, however is co-supported and mentored throughout.
The Mentor agrees to co-support the family during pregnancy and birth. The Mentor will work with the student Doula to prepare meetings/support/debriefing; will meet with the couple/mother (in partnership with the Student) prior to birth; will be available to the Student for in person and phone support during labour (and may attend part of the labour/birth); and will be otherwise available as required, including back-up.
Student Benefits: Hands on learning experience with a professional Doula; On the job mentoring; Immediate support
Client Benefits: The support of a Student Doula working with a professional Doula; back-up support where needed; reduction in Doula fees!
Mentored Doula Service Fee: Only $550
Student Doula Service
Under the Student Doula Service, a Birth Yurt Student Doula will take on the role of primary Doula for a couple from pregnancy through to birth. The Student will work under supervision of the Birth Yurt, however the Mentor will not participate in the service.
Student Benefits: Practical application of their learnings, gaining hands-on experience; Support from Mentor
Client Benefits: 1-1 Student Doula support throughout pregnancy and birth; reduction in Doula fees!
The Birth Yurt is supportive of the Student Doula and understands that the Students are 1) competent to support couples and 2) currently gaining the experience and expertise to enter into a professional Doula practice.
Student Doula Service Fee: Only $350
