Breathwork Therapy uses connected breathing in a supported way to bring release and relief from held emotions, tension, habitual thoughts and subconscious behaviours that no longer serve you. It is primarily a self responsible and deep healing process which assists you in connecting to your 'inner self'. This is the very core of us that we are not normally aware of (or conscious of), which has a significant influence on our every day life. You may refer to it as old 'baggage' that you are carrying around with you. Some of it is very useful, and some of it is not. For the majority of people, the first step is knowing the difference.
Breathwork Therapy works on a number of levels:
- Body - Release of held tension, stress, trauma; freeing the body from old energy and unexpressed emotions; allowing more oxygen in the body (great for health!) and improving body image and body acceptance.
- Mind - Gaining clarity and self understanding; understanding core issues and unmet needs and how to meet these in a healthy way; gaining peace from perspective; coming from action rather than reaction; being resourceful.
- Spirit - Greater connection to self; connecting with others; coming from love rather than fear.
Breathwork supports the woman's body through pregnancy, releasing any tension, stress and doubts from the body prior to Childbirth. It is about preparing your body/mind for the birth and parenting of your new little one! Breathwork also supports the debriefing process, letting go of any held trauma, fear, tension around your birth story and helping to find completion in your body.
How many sessions?
You will experience benefit from one session, However I normally suggest that all parents to be gift themselves at least 3 Breathwork sessions prior to the conception and/or delivery of your new child. This will enable you the time to move through different layers of body tension; and give you the time to build on your strengths, let go of inhibiting beliefs and consciously prepare your self for change.
A session usually lasts for 1.5 - 2 hours, and couples are welcome!
